Land at Frankfurt Airport, take the train to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof, then tram or taxi to hotel in Altstadt

Settle In & First Stroll

Late Afternoon

Check into hotel, freshen up, and take a leisurely walk through the pedestrian Hauptstrasse (main street) with its charming shops, cafes, and half-timbered buildings

Alte Brücke (Old Bridge)

Evening

Walk across the iconic Old Bridge for classic views of the castle and river. Don't miss the Heidelberg Bridge Monkey statue at the bridge end—a fun, symbolic bronze sculpture

Dinner in Altstadt

Enjoy your first German meal at a traditional restaurant along the Neckar River or in the old town

Castle & Panoramic Views

Heidelberg Castle (Schloss Heidelberg)

Morning

Take the funicular (or hike up) to explore the star attraction. Wander through the romantic ruins, beautiful gardens, and see the giant Heidelberg Tun (wine barrel). Enjoy panoramic views of the old town and Neckar valley. Tip: Buy the Heidelberg Card for funicular + castle entry discounts + free public transport.

Lunch in Altstadt

Return to the old town for lunch at a local cafe or beer garden

Philosophenweg (Philosopher's Walk)

Afternoon

A scenic trail across the Neckar River with stunning views of the old town and castle. Easy 1-2 hour walk/hike through beautiful nature. Perfect for photos and peaceful reflection

Optional: Afternoon Trip to Bammental

If time permits, take a short train ride to the quaint village of Bammental for a relaxed afternoon walk in the Odenwald hills, visit the local Heimatmuseum, or enjoy coffee at a traditional bakery
